As with all industries, the hearing industry has an over representation of services in the area of hearing aid sales. However, as audiologists our roles are much more diverse. At Waurn Ponds Hearing Clinic we are trying to keep the focus on our more important roles. Precise diagnostic testing of adults and children over 3 years, ear wax removal and management and advice on common ear issues. Evaluating hearing issues for communication difficulties and discussing strategies for managing any hearing issues. At that end of all this, if treatment, advice and strategies have not allowed the client to have improved hearing, then we will discuss devices that can assist. As independent audiologists we are able to choose what devices we stock and recommend and encourage clients to trial different price points so they understand what works best for them. Our staff are not required to meet any quotas. We can’t tell you what device you need and a cost before we have actually done a full hearing test and discussed your lifestyle and any hearing handicaps. Sadly for some we don’t offer free hearing screenings and competitions but we prefer to provide the services that are professional and transparent. So if you prefer to see the same clinician every time and get clear and honest advice, we are ready to serve.
